Three new wines have just been released from Eight Bells Winery. The 2011 Eight Bells Roosevelt Red is a great value Bordeaux-style blend. The 2012 Eight Bells Sangiovese is a combination of Sangiovese Grosso and Piccolo clones from the Red Willow Vineyard. These vines are over 20 year old, some of the oldest Sangiovese in Washington. The wine shows beautiful dried cherry fruit and has a soft, supple character. The 2011 Eight Bells Cabernet Sauvignon ‘David’s Block’ is one of the old world field blends that exist at Red Willow Vineyard, originally designed by owner, Mike Sauer and David Lake of Columbia Winery. The goal of a field blend block is to manage it such that all the fruit can be harvested at the same time to allow the winery to co-ferment it into an integrated blend. The wine includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot.
