The Tessari family owns and operates this small property. All of the farming is organic. Ca’Rugate wines can be found on many of the best wine lists in Italy and the United States. We are fortunate to get these wines without a national importer, and thus the wines are well priced.

2009 Beaucastel Futures

2008 Vieux Telegraphe

We are now offering the 2009 vintage of Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape for sale as futures. The 2009 Chateauneuf-du-Papes are being heralded as similar to the outstanding 2007 vintage. Payment is due upon confirmation of your order, with delivery expected in late 2011. We are including Proprietor Marc Perrin’s descriptions and Robert Parker’s reviews for your consideration.

2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 750ml Regular Retail 102.00 Futures Price 84.95 net

“Nearly black in color. The nose is both delicate and powerful at the same time, red fruit, black currants, blackberries, spices, thyme and lavender. The bouquet is very elegant, rich and round. Figs, cherries, black currants, all with a great acidity. The tannins are present but very delicate.” – Marc Perrin “The 2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape (30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise and the balance other permitted varietals) exhibits an opaque purple color as well as sweet aromas of camphor, truffles, black cherries, black currants, licorice, pepper and forest floor. The wine is full-bodied, rich, intense and powerful.” – Robert Parker, 92-95 points

2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 1.5L Regular Retail 200.00 Futures Price 169.95 net (Description above)

2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape 375ml Regular Retail 52.00 Futures Price 43.95 net (Description above)

2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 750ml Regular Retail 102.00 Futures Price 84.95 net
“Beautiful golden yellow color. The nose is mineral with notes of white flowers, honey and marmalade. The mouth is round and rich with yellow fruits (peaches and apricots) followed by notes of salted butter caramel, and a slightly salty finish.” – Marc Perrin
“The 2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc reveals the great intensity, richness and potential longevity of this vintage. Made from the same blend as the 2008 (80% Roussanne and 20% Grenache Blanc vinified in tank and wood), the 2009 sees some new oak (15%), but that component is totally hidden by copious notes of quince, honeyed citrus, peaches and apricots. With good acidity as well as a full-bodied mouthfeel, this stunning white should evolve for 7-8 years or longer.” – Robert Parker, 94-96 points

2009 Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Vielle Vignes (Roussanne) 750ml Regular Retail 175.00 Futures Price 149.95 net
“Beautiful golden color. Aromatic explosion of honey, peaches, exotic fruit and an exceptional richness and intensity. The palate has a remarkable texture, thick but fresh. We find notes of white flowers and honeysuckle, lavender, honey, and orange zest. The balance is perfect, especially with the minerality, coming from the limestone, giving this wine a fabulous texture. A great vintage of Roussanne Vieilles Vignes.” - Marc Perrin
“The Beaucastel 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is off-the-charts in terms of richness. Aged in one-year-old barrels (50%) and new oak (50%), with no malolactic, it boasts stunning aromas and flavors of marmalade, peaches, apricots, nectarines, mangoes, rose petals, creme brulee and buttered citrus. This full-bodied, gorgeously rich, voluptuously textured white has enough acidity to carry it for a decade or more.” – Robert Parker, 95-98 points

These beautiful wines will be in the shops in about ten days. With all the press regarding the 2007 and 2009 vintages in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, we have to say we’re pleased to see a vintage like 2008 come around every so often. You can enjoy a delicious vintage like 2008 over the next five to eight years, while you’re waiting for the 2007′s and 2009′s to mature in your cellar. The freshness, minerality, and balanced acidity make the 2008 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge an extremely seductive wine. A small amount of 2009 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc will arrive at the same time. The special pricing is good during the month of November.

“The 2009 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (40% Clairette, 30% Grenache Blanc, 15% Roussanne and 15% Bourboulenc) exhibits delicate floral notes interwoven with hints of pears, nectarines, red currants and crushed rocks.

The 2009 “R” de Rieussec is produced from the estate vineyards and reflects the early harvesting of grape clusters that are not botrytised. It is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Twenty percent of the wine is fermented in barrels, with the balance in stainless steel. Crisp, dry and delicious, the wine is a perfect accompaniment to Northwest seafoods. The 2006 Carmes de Rieussec is the second wine of Château Rieussec and it is a blend of over 80% Sémillon with the balance being Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. The name refers to the monks of the Carmes de Langon, the owners of the Rieussec estate in the 18th century. It is an exceptional value for dessert Sauternes. This is a prime opportunity to
get affordable Sauternes for holiday dinner parties.
These are full-flavored reds with interesting textures and styles, individually crafted to emulate European counterparts. Almquist Family Vintners is located in Seattle’s Fremont District along the canal near Ponti. In addition to artisan wines, Almquist is making over 100 distillates that will be available for both tasting and sale at the facility (up to two liters per person per day). Their affiliated restaurant, The Book Bindery, is scheduled to open October 1. Mike has hired a chef who cooked at Thomas Keller’s Per Se in New York, so we are expecting great things!
